Overview
MS-CIT stands for Maharashtra State Certification in Information Technology. The idea of the program is to make the youth IT literate and aware of the scope of IT in today's rapidly changing world. It is the endeavor of the Maharashtra Government to popularize IT education among today's youth so as to make them suitable for employment in jobs that are getting increasingly based on IT. The course is made available through a number of centres in the state of Maharahtra and one can seek to undertake the program from the nearest authorized learning centre (ALC). MS-CIT is one of the popular short term certificate programs in the field of IT literacy in Maharashtra.
Eligibility and course duration
Preferably high school or class 10th pass. Others without a high school qualification may also apply, if one is highly motivated towards a career requiring IT skills.
Duration of the course is around 12 weeks, totaling around 144 hours.

The program provides for equal hours on both lectures as well as lab practice. Admission to the course is by visiting the nearest learning centre for MS-CIT. The study material is to be obtained from the centre in the preferred language- Hindi, English or Marathi. Both classroom as well as online learning is provided. The program aims to facilitate learning through IT awareness classes that stress upon the importance of IT in every sphere of life.
