Ph.D. is a Doctoral level research-based course. It can be done in all the subjects irrespective of the stream. To become eligible for this course, candidates need to complete their post graduation degree from a reputed, registered and recognized institute and should secure at least 60% marks as an aggregate in this course. It can be M.Sc. in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology or any other related course.
This course does not have any age restriction in most of the institutes but candidates are advised to check the same before submitting their application forms.
Admissions can be availed in many ways including national level, state level, and institute level entrance tests. Candidates need to submit their duly filled application forms before the last date of submission. This form must be enclosed with all other required documents and application fee.
Candidates performing well in entrance examinations get stipends during their Ph.D. Candidates securing good scores in national level tests may not need to appear in state level or institute level entrance tests.

After successful completion of this course, candidates can continue their research work in the form of Post Doctoral degree after getting approval from their supervisor.
The course includes theoretical study during the initial phase which includes topics like Cell and Molecular Biology, physiology, neurobiology, the behavior of animals, applied and environmental Microbiology, etc. Candidates also study available literature, research papers, publications related to their subject to get an idea about the work already done in the field.
The last phase of research is Thesis writing and submission.
