Master of Journalism and Mass Communication is a Post Graduation course in the stream of Mass Communication which deals with the details study of the different domain of Mass Media like Cinema, News Paper, Radio, Magazines, Television, etc. Candidates also learn about the various methods of conveying information to the audience, collect the news and spreading general awareness among public using different methods like print media and electronic media. The course also includes training and teaching about reporting, editing, writing, photography, etc which an inseparable part of journalism. Candidates also get to learn about the role of journalism in society, concepts of news, history of journalism and various related political and social issues.
The main employment areas are journals, newspaper agencies, TV Channels, Websites, Broadcasting companies, Radio stations, Advertising agencies, etc.
Candidates can work like a photojournalist, Radio jockey, News Analyst, Film director, cartoonist, Art direct, etc as per their interest.
Admissions are direct in most of the cases but some reputed institutes may conduct entrance tests to shortlist the deserving candidates on the basis of their performance in the entrance test.

Graduate candidates who have studied Journalism and Mass communication during their Graduation degree and have secured at least 50% marks as aggregate are eligible for this course. Graduation must be pursued from a reputed and registered institute.

The duration of this course is 2 years and these 2 years are divided into 4 parts known as semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration.

The course also includes Media Law Ethics, Media Research, Media Writing and New media technologies to keep the candidates updated about the field.
