Educational qualification required to join B.S.M.S. course
The medical colleges offering B.S.M.S. course comes under the state of Tamil Nadu and are affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, the candidates must have completed 10+2 or Higher Secondary Examination from the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary State Board in their first attempt to apply for B.S.M.S. course. Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Physics, Chemistry, Botany & Zoology at their higher secondary level with not less than 60% marks. For candidates falling under SC / ST categories, the qualifying percentage of marks is 40 – 55%. In comparison to M.B.B.S and B.D.S, getting a seat in B.S.M.S. program is easier.
Course Duration
The minimum duration of Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (B.S.M.S.) course is about 5 ½ years. Four and a half years are dedicated towards classroom classes and rest 1 year towards internship.

Colleges which are coming under the Health & Family Welfare Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu, admission to the Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (B.S.M.S.) course is purely done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination as per the aforesaid percentage of marks.
