More about the course

The complete course is divided into 8 semesters. The first two semesters are common for all the branches of engineering. During the course you are taught about the engineering principles, the scientific theories and the latest technologies used to extract minerals from under the surface of the earth. You learn how to design a mine, develop it and operate it, both over the ground as well as underground. You learn about techniques to find and evaluate new mineral deposits, while working along with geologists and metallurgists. You get to know about the processes to separate the minerals from the foreign materials like dirt and rock. Other than topics on mine design and their operations, there are topics on geology, metallurgy, environmental impact due to mining and some more. Visualizing 3-dimensional objects from 2-dimensional drawings is one skill you will have to learn.

Job opportunities
