M.Tech or Master of Technology is a Post Graduate level degree course in the Technical field. It is available in various technical or engineering subjects. M.Tech in Fuel technology is related to the energy engineering domain and the course provides the dynamic, innovative and challenging environment to the candidates to support their research-based studies. Candidates get an opportunity to experience the teamwork and to interact with industrial partners. Some guest lectures and problem-oriented projects are an important part of this curse.
Being technical in nature, it is not available through correspondence but can be pursued in part-time mode under certain circumstances.
The course requires Graduates holding Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology course degree from a recognized institute or university. The minimum qualifying marks should be higher than 60% as an aggregate in their bachelor’s degree. The age requirement varies from one institute to another and needs to be checked before submission of application.
For admissions, candidates need to submit their filled application forms in the selected institutes before the last date of submission. Their applications should be enclosed with all other required documents like age proof, previous qualification certificate copies, application fee, etc.
Admissions are offered on the basis of performance of candidates in entrance tests. These tests can be of a national level like GATE, state level or institute level.
The duration of this course is 4 semesters which is equivalent to 2 years in regular mode. Each semester has 6 months duration.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates can go for the research-based course- Ph.D. or Doctor of Philosophy in Fuel Engineering, Renewable Energy or any other related topic of interest.
M.Tech is a research-based course where candidates learn the theoretical concepts and then apply them in conducting their research works. They learn about energy technology, Mechanics of Fluids, chemical engineering thermodynamics, etc. They also study the details of catalysis and catalytic processes, principles of combustion, radiative transfers, absorption, nuclear chemical engineering and other related topics.
The course includes seminars and guest lectures on topics like air pollution control, fuel conversion, and utilization, etc.
Candidates need to complete a short project before the end of the course.
These candidates can become senior consultant engineer, software engineer, principle power engineer, energy engineer, nuclear civil and structural engineer, etc as per their choice and interest.
