Introduction
M.Tech or Master of Technology in pen Cast Mining is a Post Graduation level course in the field of Mining technology. A candidate needs to have a broad knowledge of multiple disciplines like sciences, technology, mining engineering, etc to become successful in this field and this course serves for that requirement. Candidates pursuing this course get an experience of underground and opencast mining, learn about plan preparation, risk management, and many other required things.
As this course requires practical mostly, it is not available through correspondence or in part-time mode and candidates interested in pursuing need to enroll for a regular course only.
Eligibility
Candidates holding B.E. or B.Tech degree in Opencast mining, Mining, Mining Machinery, civil engineering, etc are eligible for this course. It must be completed from a recognized college and candidates must have secured at least 60% marks as an aggregate to become eligible for this course.

Admissions are offered through entrance tests and interviews in most of the reputed institutes. These entrance tests can be of national level, state level, and institute level and a single candidate can appear in any or all of these examinations as per his or her suitability.

The duration of this course is 2 years or 4 semesters. It is fixed in most of the cases.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates interested in higher studies can go for Ph.D. in pen cast Mining or any other related subjects. It is a doctorate level degree course through which a candidate gets an opportunity to learn through research. It also opens the door for the scientific world.

Details about Environmental Aspects of Mining are also included in the course. Industrial visits, dissertation, short projects, seminars, etc are an important part of this course.
