Eligibility Criteria

1. The students who wish to study this course must either complete a B.Tech degree or a B.E. course, before opting for this. Any student who has passed any other degree is not allowed to take up the application forms of this course.
2. The students can pass their graduation in mining engineering or structural engineering or material engineering or a related field. Some institutes allow students of chemical engineering to study this course.
3. The students must score a minimum of 60% in their graduation.
4. All those students who fulfill all the above criteria, will have to pass the GATE examination or the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. If a student gets a valid score in this GATE examination, then he can opt for an M.Tech in Longwall & Mine Mechanization in his preferred university. Such students will also be getting a monthly scholarship from the government of India.

Job Prospects

1. You can become a mining engineer after this master's course. You can also become a metal engineer. Your job will be to look after the processing of the mined minerals or metals. After a few years of experience as a mining engineer in India, you can apply for the same post in abroad countries. Such engineers are in high demand in countries of the middle east.
2. After a few years you can become a design engineer for mines and ores.
3. You can become a process engineer. You will be moderating the production process of refined metals or minerals or other byproducts from the mined substances.
