Eligibility Criteria

All interested applicants need to be qualified in Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in the discipline of Technology, Engineering, Science, Commerce, Arts or equivalent from a recognized college or university. Those, who are in the final year of their examination, are also eligible to take admission in the course provided they submit the mark sheet latest by 2nd July.

The duration of Flour Milling Technology course is 1 year (12 months) at International School of Milling Technology (ISMT).

Enthusiastic candidates, accomplishing the aforesaid requisites for admission in this program, need to download the admission form from the official web portal of However, the aspirants can also obtain the application form by sending a request letter for the application form and prospectus to the institute. Candidates must fill the application form precisely and send it to the institute along with a crossed demand draft / IPO in favor of “The Director, CFTRI, Mysore” within 2nd July. Candidates selected for this course will be intimated about their selection.

Selection Procedure

Selection is purely based on the merit list of marks / grade of the qualifying degree examination experience in flour milling / sponsorship. Weightage may be given to the candidates who have experience in flour milling industry. A skill test or an aptitude test / interview may be conducted by CSIR – CFTRI if required. It is a compulsion for all applicants to appear in this admission exam. Candidates, who do not qualify in the admission test, would not be entitled for admission in this course.

Course Highlights

The theory as well as practical subjects taught at ISMT is divided into four groups namely:

Milling and Cognate Subjects

Mill operation, Diagram Technique, Mill Practice I & II, Mill Machine, Cereal Science, Automatic Milling Practice and Baking Technology.

Basic Subjects

Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Applied Subjects

Electrical Technology – Theory & Practical, Mechanics, Technical Drawing, Energy Management, Infestation Control, Feed Milling, Nutrition, Packaging Technology and Computer Science.

Study Tour

Study tour to various commercial rollers flour mills and allied industries.

A month long in plant training at ISMT Mill and Automatic Mill practical classes is also a part of this course. Different guest lectures are also arranged on various other topics.
