Master of Engineering or M.E. is a postgraduate course in the field of engineering. The field of CAD or Computer Aided Design is dedicated to designing of equipment related to the field of engineering. It can be an architectural design, interior design, landscape design, mechanical design, civil related design, industrial plant design, textile design, electronic circuit design and many more. CAM or Computer Aided Manufacturing is again a computer-based software tool which helps the engineers and machinists in prototyping or manufacturing different components. CAM and CAD are interdependent and CAM is a programming tool which enables the engineers to manufacture the physical models based on CAD programs.
The duration of this course is 2 years which is equivalent to 4 semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration.
Further Study options
After this course, candidates can pursue Ph.D. in Control systems, CAD/CAM, Microwave communication, computer science and Engineering, computational linguistics or other related subjects.
Bachelor of Engineering, Bachelor of Technology or any other equivalent course with specialization in Petrochemical engineering, chemical engineering, etc are accepted for this course. The graduation must be pursued from a reputed institute and candidates must have secured 60% marks o become eligible for this course.
The age criterion is needed to be checked from the selected institute as it varies from one college to another.
Entrance examinations are getting conducted every year to shortlist the candidates for admissions in this course. These can be of national level tests like GATE, state level and even some reputed institutes are conducting their own entrance tests to validate the knowledge of candidates.
Interested candidates need to submit their filled form enclosed with other documents before the last date of submission.
The course starts with basic topics like probability and statistics, Finite Element Analysis, computer-aided design, industrial robotics, expert systems, integrated mechanical designs, etc. Then candidates learn about Mechanical vibrations, Applied materials Engineering, Integrated product and processes development, etc. CAD and CAM also have lab sessions to enable the better understanding of candidates.
The course has includes some elective subjects and projects. The list of elective subjects includes computational fluid mechanics, reliability engineering, and optimization techniques in design, advanced tool design, maintenance management and mechatronics.
These candidates can work as a surveyor, electrical designer, conservationist, architectural designer, manufacturing designer, etc very easily.
