Introduction
M.E. or Master of Engineering is a post graduate degree course and it is available in many different specializations. Production Engineering is a unique combination of manufacturing technology and management science. It teaches about designing, control and continuous advancement of integrated systems to help customers by providing high-quality goods that too in a cost-effective manner.
The course includes manufacturing engineering training, industrial engineering training, product design, finance, etc.
Candidates having an understanding of basics of sciences and humanities, innovation, problem-solving abilities, etc are suitable for this course.

Eligibility
Candidates holding Bachelor of technology, bachelor of engineering or any other equivalent course are eligible for this course. The eligibility criteria for minimum qualifying marks and minimum required age need to be checked from the selected institute as it varies from one college to another.
Admission Procedure
Admission procedure includes entrance tests which can be of the National level, state level or of institute level. Candidates performing well in same get shortlisted for the admission. Candidates need to submit the application forms in the selected institute before the last date of submission.
Duration
The duration of this course is 2 years or 4 semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration. The course is designed in such a way that each semester ends with final examinations.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates can opt for higher studies and they can enroll in Ph.D. or Doctor of Philosophy in Production Engineering or any other related subject. Through Ph.D., candidates get opportunities to conduct researches on their selected topics after approval from their supervisors.

The course starts with topics like Fluid mechanics, basic mathematics, engineering thermodynamics, electrical machines, computer graphics, solid modeling, etc. Some lab sessions for manufacturing processes, electrical machines, measurements, and instrumentation, etc are also included in the course.
Candidates also learn about systems programming and languages, analysis and synthesis of linkages and machines, etc.
The latter part of the course includes metal cutting principles, heat transfer, ergonomics and work design, environmental management, the design of machine management, etc.
