Introduction
Master of Science (M.Sc.) is a postgraduate level degree course in science stream. It is available in any subjects and Animal Biotechnology is one among them. Anima Biotechnology is a part if animal husbandry which is basically a use of science and engineering for modifying living organisms for good purpose. Candidates learn to create products, develop microorganisms and improve animal species for different purposes including specific agriculture uses. The candidates get analytical and synthesis skills for dissemination and management of experimental data, they learn to understand the political-economic framework, bioethical problems related to the field of biotechnology.
Eligibility
Candidates who have pursued/ completed their graduation degrees like B.Sc., B.Tech or B.E. in same or related subjects are eligible or this course. This degree must be pursued from a recognized institute and candidates should have secured at least 60% marks or higher to become eligible for this course.

In all the cases, submission of duly filled application form enclosed with other documents and application fee before the last date of submission is an essential step.
Duration
The duration of this course is 2 years which are equivalent to 4 semesters. Each semester has 6 months duration.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates who are willing to continue their studies can go for Doctor of philosophy or Ph.D. in Animal Biotechnology. It is a research-based course and candidates are allowed to conduct the research on the topic of their own interest after approval from their supervisor.
Course Highlights
The course starts with basics of biotechnology like Biochemistry and Biophysics, microbiology, human cytogenetics, molecular cell biology, oncology, etc. Then the candidates learn about global warming, wildlife biology, animal physiology and economic zoology.
The latter part of the course becomes more specific and includes topics like molecular genetics, immunology, conservation biology, toxicology, bioethics, and Biosafety.
The course also includes lab sessions for molecular genetics, immunology, conservation biology and embryology related practical.
The last semester of the course is a short-term project which is known as the dissertation. Candidates can pursue the same in any research institute, a biotechnology firm, a pharmaceutical firm, etc.
