About the course

It is an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering course. It is one of the oldest and the most traditional branches of engineering disciplines. It is the branch of engineering that applies the principle of physics and material science for manufacturing, design, analysis, and maintenance of mechanical systems.

Eligibility Criteria

For pursuing B.Tech Mechanical Engineering degree course, one must be pass in 10+2 degree or Higher Secondary Examination in Science stream with subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Maths and also the candidate has taken an all India JEE / Institute level entrance Exam. Diploma holders are also eligible to get admitted in this course directly into the second year of engineering.

Course Duration

The duration of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering course is of 4 years which is divided into eight semesters, with each semester lasting for a period of six months.

Admissions are given on merit basis to the candidates who have cleared 10+2 Science / JEE exam or through Institute level Management quota.

Course Details

This undergraduate course is designed to prepare skilled professionals to design, develop, produce and manufacture, repair and maintain devices in the industry. In the first year, B.Tech Mechanical Engineering degree course covers basic subjects like applied physics, applied chemistry, applied maths, applied mechanics, and drawing. In the next two years, the candidate studies core subjects of the mechanical branch like manufacturing technology, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, automobile engineering, production and operations management, heat engines, etc. In the final year, the curriculum includes modern subjects, electives and project work. The curriculum has a mix of theory, tutorials and practical. Some colleges offer internship in the final semester.
