Introduction
M.Sc. or Master of Science is a Postgraduate course in the science field. It is available in all the domains of science like biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, etc. M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry is a course which deals with behavior and synthesis of inorganic and organ metallic compounds. Candidates learn about their applications in all domains of chemical industries like material science, catalysis, surfactants, pigments, medicine, agriculture, coatings, etc. The course also focuses on the study of elements, their compounds, their derivatives and all their scientific aspects. Candidates also learn about synthesis and characterization of noncarbon molecules, their bonding, and structure, their reactive properties, conductivity, etc. Details of techniques like X-ray diffraction, spectroscopy, photoelectron analysis, etc are also included in the course.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates can enroll in M.Phil or Master of Philosophy and then in Ph.D. or Doctor of Philosophy to have a scientific career ahead.
Duration
The duration of this course is 4 semesters or 2 years as each semester is having 6 months duration.
Eligibility
Candidates who have completed their graduation degree in science stream with specialization in chemistry are eligible for this course. It must be pursued from a recognized institute and they should have secured at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA to become eligible for this course. The age criteria vary from one to another institute and need to be checked from the selected institute before submitting the application.
Admission Procedure
Admissions are offered in different ways in different institutes. It can be directly on first come first serve basis, on merit basis and screening through entrance tests. In the last case, the candidates' performing well get shortlisted for the admissions. In all the cases, submission of application form before the last date of submission is mandatory.
