Introduction
M.Pharm. is Master of Pharmacy is a post-graduate level degree course in the field of Pharmacy. M.Pharm. in Pharmaceutical Technology is a scientific approach to technology to pharmacology, pharmacy and pharmaceutical industries. Candidates learn about techniques, methods, instrumentation, manufacturing, compounding, preparation, packaging, dispensing and storage of drugs. Details of drugs used for diagnostic and treatment purposes are also included in the course.
Candidates having interest in the field of pharmacology and want to get trained in pharmaceutical analysis, quality assurance, product formulation, etc should pursue this course. It is also preferable to have knowledge of toxicology, microbiology and basic related instrumentation to perform better in this course.
Further Study options
After completion of this Master level degree course, the available option for higher studies is Ph.D. or Doctor of Philosophy in the same subject. Other options are M.B.A. in Pharma.Technology, M.D. Pharmacology, D.M. in Clinical Pharmacology, etc.
Eligibility
Candidates holding Bachelor of Pharmacy degree or any other equivalent degree course in pharmacy recognized by Pharmacy Council of India or All India Council of Technical Education are eligible for this course. The minimum required marks should be higher than 55% and the age criteria should be checked from the selected institute as it varies from one to another college.
Admission Procedure
For admissions, interested candidates need to get and then fill the application form of the selected institute. This duly filled form should be submitted before the last date of submission and must be enclosed with other documents as mentioned in the prospectus.
Admissions can be offered directly, on the merit basis or through entrance tests depending upon the institute you select.
Duration
The duration of this course is 2 years and in some institutes, these 2 years are divided into 4 equal parts known as semesters.

The course teaches about Analytical techniques, biopharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics, methods in drug evaluation, etc during the initial phase of the course. Then the candidates also learn about Novel Drug delivery system, GMP, Quality Assurance, Process Validation, research Methodology and related biostatics during this course.
Pharmaceutical product Management, its technologies, Drug Regulatory Affairs, Intellectual Property Rights and Industrial Training are some important part of this course.
