Introduction
M.Pharm or Master of Pharmacy is a Post Graduation level degree course in Pharmaceutical field. Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a combined form of pharmaceutical science and chemistry which includes study about basic chemistry, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, pharmacology and other related biological domains related to the designing, synthesis, and development of commercially available pharmaceutical drugs.
The course includes lab experiments, theory sessions, guest lectures, etc and cannot be pursued through correspondence. Candidates can either enroll in regular or part-time mode.
Candidates having numeric, computation and problem-solving skills and can think methodically are ideal for this course.
Eligibility
Interested candidates should pass their bachelor's degree in the Pharmacy specialization from a reputed and recognized institute successfully to become eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks are 50% and the age criteria vary from one institute to another. It is advised to check the same before submission of an application to avoid the end moment rejection of the application.
Admission Procedure
For admissions, candidates are supposed to fill and submit the application forms before the last date of submission in the selected institutes. These firms must be enclosed with other documents required to process the application further.
Candidates need to appear in entrance tests like Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Tests ad to perform well to get admissions in a reputed institute.
Duration
The duration of this course is 2 years or 4 semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration. The duration varies in different institutes depending upon the mode of the course.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates interested in pursuing higher studies should go to Ph.D. or Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. It is a research-based course through which candidates get opportunities to get in-depth knowledge the subject through experiments.
