Eligibility Criteria

1. To study this course a candidate must possess a minimum of 60% marks in their master's degree.
2. There is a restriction regarding the stream of master's. A student who either possesses an M.E. or M.Tech can study this course. The discipline of the M.E. or M.tech course will be either food process engineering or agricultural process engineering or biomedical engineering or biotechnology engineering or such related fields.
3. Finally, after the initial round of screening, based on the above eligibility requirements, students will be called for an entrance examination. This entrance examination will be of 2-3 hours duration, to test your basic knowledge in food processing and agriculture. Only those students who possess a valid GATE score will be exempted from this examination. After you pass the entrance test or one you have a valid GATE score, you will be called for a personal interview. If you clear this interview, you will get the admission.

Job Prospects

1. After this course, you can become a junior food technologist. You will learn how to check for quality control and how to examine the current food production process. After a few years, you will become a senior food technologist.
2. You can become a production supervisor. You will be in charge of a production process of a singular food item.
3. After around 10 years of experience as a supervisor, you can become a production manager. You will have to look after the production process of a series of food items. You will have to prepare food production reports.
