Introduction
M. Arch. or Master of Architecture is a Post Graduation level degree course in the field of Architecture. Architecture is a kind of Engineering which is a discipline related to the art of constructing and designing of buildings. The course teaches about principles of design and construction, ornamentation of different kinds of buildings. Nowadays, the architecture is not limited to the buildings only and I includes designing of different environments like parks, gardens, theme parks, resorts, etc. Depending upon such specific skills we can differentiate them like Green architect, Museum Architect, landscape architect, theatre architect and many more.
The course can be pursued in regular and through correspondence as per the availability of the candidates.
Eligibility
Candidates who have pursued Bachelors of Architecture from a recognized institute are eligible for this course. They must have secured 50% marks and should align with the age criteria to become eligible for this course.
Admission Procedure
For admissions, interested candidates need to submit the filled application form before the last date of application. Some institutes conduct an entrance test or an aptitude test and after that an interview for shortlisting the deserving candidates. These exams can be JNTU PACET, NATA Aptitude Test, etc.
Duration
The duration of this course is 2 years or 4 semesters in regular mode. It varies in case of part-time course or when it is pursued through correspondence and in such cases, it is better o check the duration from the selected institute.
Further Study options
After completion of this course candidates can continue their studies by enrolling in M.Phil or Master of Philosophy in Architectural and Settlement Conservation. After that Ph.D. can also be done in the same or related subject to having better opportunities.
