Course Description of M.Tech in Geophysical Technology
The Master of Technology in Geophysical Technology is post graduation regular two years degree course. The course is designed to enable students to master the subjects geology and physics and apply their knowledge in the concerned areas. The Program helps students to become skilled professionals to cater to needs of environment departments. The course study includes credit system, lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, seminars, project works, dissertation and examinations. The teaching learning process includes the study of mathematics, physics, electrical science, electronics, computer systems, optics, thermo dynamics, behavioral science and other subjects spread across the duration of the study.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates who have completed their degree course B.E/ B.Tech in the concerned subjects from recognized university are eligible for the course. The students should have qualified examination with 50% aggregate marks. They need to posses strong analytical abilities and communication skills. Admission is through entrance examination and personal interview.
Additional Description of the Course
The program aims at providing the strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills of geological processes that controls the water chemical compositions, weathering of chemical principles, geochemistry and chemical thermodynamics. The course introduces them to different geophysical methods, working principles of measuring instruments and field operations. Hands on experiences are provided for remote sensing, image interpretation and mapping of land forms. Students are exposed to studies of water management and application of principles in concerned areas. The program is multi disciplinary and integrated course that includes combination of several subjects.
Training equips the students with understanding the concepts of natural disasters, its causes and effects. Hands on experiences are provided to get know-how of the safety procedures and techniques of various applications in daily life. Students learn and understand the concepts of physics laws and earth structures and geological processes of the earth. The program provides students a pathway for them to take up the career in geophysical technology and grow professionally and personally.
