Course overview:
Computer engineering is a discipline which integrates computers with electrical and electronics fields to design, develop and install hardware and software systems as per user needs. This course enables the computer engineer to get placed in IT MNCs or other allied organizations of varied sizes in good positions and contribute to the computer domain.
Course Details:
The computer engineering BTech course is of four years duration and is based on the semester system. The first year focuses on basic core subjects like physics, chemistry, engineering drawing, mathematics, basic electricity and electronics and communication skills. In the next three years the curriculum focuses on core subjects of electronic devices and circuits, electrical networks, data structures, operating systems, computer networks, databases, software engineering, data warehousing, software architecture, system security, network security, multimedia, distributing computing, project management etc. Students carry out a team project, which could be a research or implementation project. Once the course is complete, the student is ready to work independently and contribute to the computer domain.
Job opportunities:
Workforce requirements in the Computers domain have been rising and computer graduates find good job opportunities. They can take up jobs in IT MNCs, or medium or small scale private companies, or even in government organizations. The graduates are trained to carry out design, development, testing or maintenance of software or handle computer hardware installation or networking. Many graduates attend specific courses and give an international certification exam and then take up a job. These graduates will get the same salary but get a better and specific job profile in projects. In case interested the student can think of joining the teaching field, but as per AICTE norms Master's is mandatory.
