More about the course
The study of pharmacology and toxicology are of great importance. On one hand pharmacology is the study of drugs, toxicology on the other hand studies the adverse effects of drugs on humans and other living systems. Toxicology also aims to eliminate those adverse effects so as to improve the effectiveness of the drugs and medications. The main aim of the study is to understand the various properties of drugs and their effect on living systems, the interactions between the drug receptors and the molecules of drug. Among other things you will be learning about the differences in the two fields of pharmacology and toxicology. If one is about the therapeutic effects of drugs, then the other focuses more on the adverse effects of chemicals used in such drug formulations, on the human body. Pharmacology is a lot about how the drugs get handled by the human body and the action that they take.
Job opportunities and prospects
First and foremost, the MS course provides you with a great opportunity to pursue a doctoral program such as PhD in the field of pharmacology. By undertaking such research programs, you can get into advanced research into the field or may get into academics teaching the subject in colleges. The pharmaceutical industry too provides for handsome opportunities. The government sector too provides for important role in its various departments dealing with disease control, food and drug administration, policy formulating, scientific writing and so on.
