Introduction
Master of Science is also addressed as M.Sc. most of the time. It is Post Graduation level degree course and is available in various subjects from different streams and Food and Nutrition are one among them with excellent job options. It teaches about applied nutrition, product development, and quality management. Candidates also get to learn about a relationship between food science and human nutrition, food industry, and our government. Topics like the nutritional significance of processed food, diet, nutrition claims, nutrition labeling, nutritional quality, catering technology, etc are also included in the course.
Eligibility
Candidates who have completed B.Sc. in food and Nutrition/ Food Technology/ Dietetics/ Clinical Nutrition or any other related stream from a recognized and registered institute are eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks should be 50% or higher as an aggregate. The age limit should be checked from the selected institute as it varies widely.
Admission Procedure
Admissions are offered in different ways in different institutes. The top-ranked institutes conduct entrance tests to validate the knowledge of candidates and to shortlist the deserving candidates on the basis of their performance in the same. Duration
The duration of this course 2 years in regular mode. These 2 years are divided into 4 parts known as semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration.
Further Study options
After completion of this Master level course, candidates can enroll in Ph.D. in Human Nutrition, Nutritional science or any other related topics of their interest. Ph.D. is considered as the highest academic degree n any field and candidates may get a scientific career after completion of this course.
