M.Tech or Master of technology is considered as a post-graduation level degree course in the field of engineering/ Technology. It has many specializations and Medical Nanotechnology is one among them. Medical nanotechnology, as its name sounds, is related to the field of medicine and diagnosis and is a unique combination of science and technology. Medical nanotechnology is used in different part of a medical line like treating of diseases, preventing, treatment of traumatic injury, diagnosis, etc. This field uses molecular tools and molecular knowledge of the human body and supports imaging, pathological tissue analysis, early diagnosis and drug delivery.
Candidates who want to learn about research environment, perform projects, etc should go for this course.
The duration of this course is 2 years which is equivalent to 4 semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration. Candidates need to qualify each semester separately.
Candidates who have pursued and completed Bachelor of engineering or Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology, Nanotechnology or any other related field from a reputed and recognized institute are eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks should be 60% or higher to get admission in most of the institutes.
The age criteria vary and need to be checked from the selected institute, that too before submitting the application form.
For admissions, interested candidates need to submit their duly filled application forms in the selected institutes before the last date of submission. These applications must be enclosed with other required documents like age proof, caste certificate, qualification documents, etc.
Admissions can be offered directly or on merit basis in some institutes but most of the reputed and top-ranked institutes conduct their own entrance tests or consider the rank of candidates in national level tests like GATE.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates having research aptitude and want to have a scientific career should go for Ph.D. in medical nanotechnology. It is a research-based course during which candidates get opportunities to design and perform their own experiments.
the course starts with topics like biomaterials science, molecular and cell biology, statistical methods in biology, quantum mechanics, etc. Then the candidates learn about the chemistry of nanomaterials, nanosystem design, nano biochemistry, and many more such topics.
These candidates can work as a senior knowledge officer, project assistant, flash action script designer, etc. They can work in health industries, research labs, food and beverage industries, etc.
