Pharmacovigilance mainly deals with drug safety. It is also concerned with efficacy of drugs. It is here, where we find out whether the drug will be effective and safe. In this field, one gets to monitor the drug from its preclinical development stage until post market surveillance. Those who work in this field collect and analyze data and at the same time monitor the drugs and the medications for any kind of adverse effects. By adverse effect we understand, reactions as well as side effects that take place in a patient's body. Adverse effects serious in nature may often require hospitalization. Such adverse effects are reported to clinical investigators. Pharmacovigilance determines which adverse effects are acceptable compared to their efficacy in curing an ailment.
Eligibility and course duration
Graduation or post graduation in the field of pharma. Others from healthcare industry from fields such as Ayurveda or homeopathy medicine manufacturing, clinical research, drug manufacturing, cosmetics manufacturing, food manufacturing, etc. may enroll for the program.
The duration is 12 months.
