About the course
It is a post graduate course in Petroleum Engineering with main focus of the course being oiland gas sector. The course covers both on shore and off shore pipelines as the core sector for Mechanical and Chemical Engineering.
Eligibility Criteria
- The basic eligibility criteria for pursuing M.Tech Pipeline Engineering course is pass degree in B.E / B.Tech or equivalent qualification preferably in Pipeline Engineering with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.
- Some institutes conduct an entrance examination for admission to their postgraduate course in Pipeline Engineering.
- Students who are awaiting their final degree result are also eligible to pursue this course.
Course Duration
The duration of M.Tech Pipeline Engineering course is 2 years which is divided into four semesters, with each semester lasting for a period of six months. The first 2 semesters are common between all M.Tech students while the end semesters are dedicate to major and minor subjects.

However, a few colleges have their own entrance examination and admission procedures in place for selecting and admitting candidates.
M.Tech Pipeline Engineering: Internship option
At the end of every year in summer, students pursuing the course need to go for a summer internship program each year. It is a mandatory necessity to be fulfilled for a successful completion of the course and obtaining the degree. The internship needs to last a minimum of 2 months completed from a reputed organization. Stipends offered for the internship differ according to the concerned company's policies. A few of them are paid and few are unpaid.
