Introduction
Post Graduate program in Management is in use in its abbreviated from P.G.P.M. and is a diploma level course which can be pursued after completing graduation. As its name suggests, it is specialized in management and finance based studies.
Candidates having strategic thinking, flexible in nature, visionary and adaptable to change are suitable for this course. They should also have the emotional maturity to cope up with disappointments, stress, and frustration to become successful in this field.
Eligibility
Being Postgraduate course, candidates who have already completed their graduation are eligible for this course. It must be completed from a registered and recognized institute and candidates should have secured at least 55% marks as an aggregate to become eligible for his course.
There are some institutes offering relaxations for Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and differently abled candidates in terms of age and marks requirement.
If a candidate has not done graduation, he or she must have studies 10+2+3 format course.
Admission Procedure
Admissions can be availed in different ways in different institutes. In all the cases, submission of filled application form is mandatory. Reputed institutes conduct their own entrance tests to shortlist the deserving candidates and to validate their knowledge about the subject. There are some institutes considering the ranks and scores obtained in national level or state level entrance tests.
Some institutes also offer direct admissions.
Duration
The duration of this course is 2 years in most of the cases but may vary depending upon the institute you select to pursue the course. The duration for part-time mode and the course through correspondence may also vary.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, it is advised to pursue Masters degree in related subject to have better job options in future. Candidates can pursue Master in Business Administration, Masters in Commerce, etc. After that M.Phil and then Ph.D. is again available for candidates having research aptitude.
Course Highlights
As mentioned above, this course is combined form of management studies and finance. Candidates learn about marketing management, financial management, quantitative methods, managerial economics, etc during the initial period of the course. Then it teaches about accounting for managers, operation management, business communication, organizational behavior and information systems for managers.
The course has some elective subjects and soft skills labs apart from a short-term project.
