Eligibility and course duration

Those with a BDS degree from any one of the dental colleges recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI). Should have also completed the mandatory internship in a recognized institution. Selections are mainly based on marks obtained in the qualifying exam.

The certificate course is available in most dental colleges in the country. To gain proficiency in this field one needs to work hard with extensive training in carrying out the various tasks. The type of dental surgeries that are performed, some are immediate implants, implants in prosthetic zone, prosthetic restoration, placing and restoring of implants and so on. During the course of training you will be taught various topics, such as historical aspects of dental implants, basic concepts in implantology and types of implants. There are topics about bone evaluation, healing and bone physiology. You will be also taught about implant diagnosis, treatment planning, clinical practice and handling of soft tissues around dental implants. Other than the above there will be topics on basic restorative sequence and reviewing the anatomy of the nearby area. Along with theory classes, there will be workshops and case studies to study the implant treatment process.
