Introduction
M.Com or Master of Commerce is a Master level degree course in commerce field. The honors in M.Com deals with principles of accounting, micro, and macroeconomics, economic theory, business-related knowledge, the banking system, principle of accounting, trade, policies, etc. This course has some sub-specializations like statistics, marketing, Taxation, insurance, accounting, and Finance, etc.
This course is completely theoretical and candidates can pursue the same as a regular candidate, in part-time mode and even through correspondence.
Eligibility
Candidates holding Graduate degree in commerce or economics are eligible from this course. It must be pursued from a registered institute and should have secured at least 50% marks or higher to become eligible in top-ranked institutes.
There are some institutes accepting candidates holding a graduate degree in management/ business studies, etc.
The criteria about age are variable in different institutes and even some institutes have provision or relaxation of reserved castes like SC ST, etc.
Admission Procedure
Interested candidates need to submit their duly filled application forms before the last date of submission. This application should be enclosed with all other required documents like qualification certificate copies, age proof, application fee, etc. Some institutes shortlist the deserving candidates and create merit list depending upon the marks obtained in graduation. Some institutes conduct entrance tests to validate the knowledge of candidates.
Duration
The duration of this course is 2 years which is equivalent to 4 semesters. Each semester has 6 months duration and ends with the final examination. Candidates need to qualify each semester separately to complete the course.
Further Study options
After completion of this course, candidates may get good jobs easily. If any of them still wants to continue his or her studies, Master of Philosophy in commerce. Ph.D. is an option for those who are having Research Aptitude.
