About Course
B.E. stands for Bachelor of Engineering. It is equivalent to graduation degree. This course has various specialization options and Computer Science is one among them. This course is a combination of Software and Hardware studies of Computers. If we look into the details, it includes study of all the various aspects related to computers like structure, processing, expression, representation, storage, etc. The current time demands are programming languages, graphics, visual applications, etc.
Eligibility Criteria for course
12th qualified candidates from some recognized university with Science stream are eligible for this course. The minimum qualified marks may vary from institute to institute.
Future Study options
After B.E. Computer Science, candidate may pursue M.Tech. with similar specialization. He or she may go for MBA, MS (Master of Science) or lastly research. In all the options, candidates have huge number of opportunities to earn in India as well as other countries.
Duration of the course
The course is having full time duration of 4 years and it cannot pursued as distant learning option. All the 4 years are divided into 8 semesters and candidates need to clear each semester individually.
Job options
The job are more in private sector than the government job options. There are lots and lots of companies looking for Computer Science specialist with various qualifications. The candidates can have designations like Software Engineer, developer, technical consultant, programmer, etc depending upon his or her interest.
In government sector, BHEL, NTPC, SAIL, etc are among the biggest firms hiring computer engineers.
Admissions
The admissions are mostly based on the performance in entrance examinations. Most of the institutes conduct exams for short listed candidates based on their grades in 12th. The final selection depends upon their performance in examination and then in interview.
Course highlights
The course includes study of all basic sciences like Physics, mathematics, environmental Science, etc. it also includes technical English, basic electronics and mechanics. During later stage of course, candidates will be allowed to select any one stream as their specialization.
The last semester of the course is a training duration which is almost 6 months. During this training, candidates have to pursue a small project as per their choice in a relevant company. This project gives them opportunity to learn practical aspects of whatever they have learned in theory.
