Introduction
Ph.D. is Doctor of Philosophy and is considered the highest academic degree in any stream. Ph.D. can be pursued in all the subjects including both theoretical and technical, although the duration may vary in all cases.
Ph.D. in Textile Technology is related to the field of Textile engineering and associated technology. It includes all the aspects of textile industry like graphics, computing techniques, physics and chemistry laboratory, technical lab sessions, etc.
Ph.D. is a complete research-based course; hence it cannot be pursued through correspondence but is available in a part-time mode in which candidates need to work as per the guidance of their supervisor with regular visits.
Duration
The duration of this course is 3 years in the general case but it can be get extended against a valid reason but that requires the approval from the supervisor and other authorities. The whole duration is divided into 2 parts- JRF and SRF.
Eligibility
This course require postgraduate candidates who have completed their Master's degree in Textile technology or any other related course from a reputed institute. The minimum qualifying marks vary from one institute to another and need to be checked fm the selected institute before submitting the application.
There is no age bar for this course and candidates can pursue the same as per their requirement and availability.
Admission Procedure
Admissions in Ph.D. can be availed in different ways. The most common one is through national levels entrance tests like CSIR NET and UGC exams. These are getting conducted twice a year and candidates securing top positions can get admissions in reputed institutes very easily that too with stipend facility.
Another way is to enroll on the self-sponsored basis. In this case, you need to contact the supervisor personally with your SOP and if he gets impressed, he will allow you to register for Ph.D.
Further Study options
After Ph.D., candidates can easily get good reputed jobs but if still, they want to continue their studies, Post Doctorate degree is available which is an extension of Ph.D. research work.
