Introduction

The hands and the vertebrae are the most common body parts for which a physiotherapist gets a call. The phalanges, the carpal bones, and the ulna can suffer from severe pain due to various reasons. Sometimes such pain is not cured by medication or pain balms only. The patients require a professional physiotherapist to treat them. This course will make you aware of the various pains that are caused in the joints of the hand. You will get to know how you can treat them by massaging. Not all diseases are curable by Physiotherapy. You must know that classification, before you accept a patient for treatment. Through this course, you will be able to diagnose the problem of the patients and treat them accordingly. This is a two-year degree course. Eligibility Criteria

  1. A student must complete graduation before applying for this course. The stream of graduation would be Physiotherapy. Some colleges however, allow studying in a course that is equivalent to BPT or bachelor's in Physiotherapy. You should go through the guidelines stated by Indian Medical Council, UGC and other such governing bodies to find out which are the courses that are deemed to be equivalent to BPT course.
  2. The cutoff score in graduation for applying in M.P.T course in Hand conditions, is 60%. In some colleges there could be a relaxation of 5% for the SC, ST and OBC students. However, this relaxation depends on the reservation of seats maintained in the college.


Future Job Prospects

  1. You can join an NGO or a non-governmental organization as a junior physiotherapist. These NGOs conduct medical campaigns on a regular basis in the interior villages of our country. You will see various kinds of problems in the bones of the hands of the village people. There you will have to treat the patients and maintain a government record of it.
  2. You can become a physiotherapy executive in a hospital. You will train the junior physiotherapists working under you. You will also have to look after the administration procedure of the hospital.
  3. You can join as an assistant professor in physiotherapy. If you complete a PhD. degree in a part-time mode, then it will be better for you. If you receive the PhD. degree while working as an assistant professor, then you will become a professor soon.
