Industrial engineering branch deals with the optimization of complex processes or systems. Course Details:
This two year PG course comprises of theory and practical in the first year followed by a project / internship in the second year. The curriculum comprises of various subjects like: statistics of decision making, operations research, operations planning and control, supply chain management, quality assurance and electives namely: value engineering, project management, facilities planning and plant engineering, human factors engineering, ergonomics, quality management, IT manufacturing enterprises, CAD/ CAM, automation in manufacturing, metrology, maintenance management, computer integrated manufacturing systems, financial engineering, system dynamics etc. Some of these are electives. Overall the course enables a student to apply science, mathematics, and engineering methods to system integration and operations.

On completion of the PG course there are many job opportunities for industrial engineers in the private and government sector. They are offered any of the following job roles namely: safety engineer, industrial engineer, industrial production manager, industrial engineering technician, industrial management engineer, industrial systems engineer etc. The tasks could include analysing and designing facilities of material handling, manufacturing and production systems in systems domain or resource allocation and scheduling, quality assurance, inventory control, managing manufacturing processes etc. in the operations domain.
