Sugar is a product prepared from Sugar Cane juice and thus it is a Farm product. It is required for all kinds of sweet products at least in India. This requirement creates great demand of the product and increases the importance of its production.
For fulfilling the demand and even to manage the export of Sugar, experts work to improve the sugar production technology and the course includes study of such subjects in detail.
The course is available mostly in states where Sugar Cane farming is done on large basis. Government supports the course to train their students in Sugar production which will in turn increase the profit for them.
Eligibility Criteria
Being Diploma Degree, 12th passed students can register themselves for this course. Students who have done their 12th with Biology subject are preferred because they would be having the basic knowledge the plantation.
There are some institutes offering this course even after 10th. In both the cases, the Duration of course will vary.
Course Duration
The duration of vary depending upon the qualification of the candidate.
It is 2 years for 12th passed students where as it is 3 years for 10th passed students.
The course cannot be pursued as distance learning course as it includes technical studies and even practical sessions.
Further Study Options
After completion of this course, candidate can also study B.Sc. and them M.Sc. as their Graduation and Post Graduation degree with related specialization. There are many institutes offering B.Sc. in Production Technology, Brewing technology, etc.
Interested candidates can also pursue Post Graduate Diploma in Sugar Technology which will enhance their skills in their own field.
Job opportunities
Being very specific in their course, these candidates are in demand for Sugar industries. Some states like Uttar Pradesh, who are the major sugar producing states of India recruits Sugar Technology experts every year to improve their production.
Initially they are recruited as assistant only but after dedication and hard work, they will get higher designations.
