Tool and die making is a 4 Year course. The course emphasizes on practical and theoretical knowledge. It equips the student in tools and designing of tools. They would be able to work without the supervision of an engineer.
Tools and die makers create tools and use machines efficiently to design and fabricate tools. They make jigs, molds, fixtures, gauges and make cutting tools in the manufacturing industries. They have high value in the manufacturing companies and industries. They are machinists and work in a flexible environment. Depending on the type of work they are called as tool maker, mold maker or Tool fitter.

They are professionals who learn the trade through academics, hands on experience and in house training. They study the sketches, designs, blue prints for making tools. Tool and die makers grind, fit, file and adjust parts for fitting things properly. They polish the surfaces of tools and dies to smooth-en them .Making tools are those used for metal forming rolls in tool making. Cutting tools, fixtures, machine tools are common tools. Die making concentrates on making dyes, steel rule dies and die sets. A person can perform all the above tasks and the skills are interrelated hence the term tool and die making.

Eligibility
The students should have completed XII/ PUC/+2. The age limit is 21 years. The students need to have basic knowledge about the various materials and wood. The students should be able to understand the basics of Mathematics like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and trigonometry. The candidate should be familiar with basic algebra formulas, computer skills in creating and designing.
