Introduction
B.Tech or Bachelor of Technology is a Graduate level degree course in technical stream. It is available in different subjects and specializations. B. Tech in Electronics and Biomedical Engineering is related to the field of biomedical science and deals with the study of Science in association with technologies. Candidates learn about the applications of engineering principles in designing biomedical equipment using various design concepts. The course trains the candidates to improve the healthcare diagnostics field, medical therapies, etc.
Candidates having problem-solving and analytical skills, have statistical skills and can work on spreadsheets, presentations, data analysis, etc are suitable for this course.
Eligibility
Candidates who have completed their 12th board examinations from a reputed institute with science stream and have scored at least 45% marks as an aggregate are eligible for this course. The age criteria vary from one institute to another and it is advised to check the same from the selected institute beforehand.
Admission Procedure
Admissions in B.Tech are a bit difficult and most of the institutes conduct entrance tests to shortlist the deserving candidates. Those who perform well in the same get shortlisted for further screening through interview sessions.
Some other institutes consider the ranks scored in national and state level entrance tests.
In all the cases, candidates need to fill out and submit their duly filled application forms before the last date of submissions.
Duration
The duration of this course is 4 years or 8 semesters. Each semester is having 6 months duration.
Further Study options
This course is graduate level course and it is always beneficial to pursue masters degree to have better job options. These candidates can pursue Master of Engineering or Master of Technology in the same or related field like Biomedical engineering, Biotechnology, Food technology and biochemical engineering, etc. They can pursue Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering after their Master's degree.

The course starts with basic topics like physics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering mechanics, basic civil and mechanical engineering, communicative English, etc. Then candidates learn about material science, environmental science, engineering thermodynamics, computer programming, electron devices and circuits, switching theory and logical design, etc.
The latter part of the course becomes more specific and deals with specific engineering subjects like biomechanics, bioengineering and computation, microprocessors, signals and systems, and many more.
