Course introduction
The course keep itself separate from other course because it gives an opportunity to work in ships and even to work as captain. Apart from the course, it also requires Pre-Sea Training to become a Nautical Deck Cadet.
Eligibility
12th passed candidates with Science and Mathematics as their major subjects are eligible for this course. The minimum qualifying marks may vary from institute to institute.
This course also has some medical restrictions for height, eye sights and other health related issues.
Some institutes also have age restriction till 25 years of age for this course.
Admission Procedure
Admission procedure includes an entrance test that can be private for private colleges and can be nationalized for government colleges. The selection will not solely done on the basis of candidates performance in written test. They also conduct interview sessions and finally medical tests.For final selection, a candidate must be medically fit for this course.
Duration
It has a duration of 3 regular years. These three years are divided into 6 different semesters and the whole syllabus is also divided accordingly. Candidates need to qualify each and every semester separately by the end of the course.
Further study options
After B.Sc., candidate may think to pursue Post graduate degree with same or similar specialization like M.Sc. They are also eligible to opt for B.Ed. and research options.
They can also pursue M.Tech in Nautical Science to get more insights about the stream.
Job aspects
A course is very much specific in job opportunities and candidates after successful completion of their course are eligible to work in ships. Their job opportunities will solely be related to marine life.
To get higher designations and good compensations, candidates also need to pursue Pre- Sea training.
