More information about Microbiology
Viruses are classified as organisms as living and nonliving complex molecules. Microorganisms that posses membrane around them are called eukaryotic, it includes fungi and protists and prokaryotic organisms lacks membrane which includes bacteria. Microbiology can classified based on applied science and on taxonomy. Based on taxonomy the branches of study include bacteriology, mycology, phycology, parasitology, virology, nematology etc. Applied microbiology includes medical microbiology, pharmaceutical microbiology, industrial microbiology, food and agricultural microbiology, veterinary/water/aeromicrobiology. Microbiologists isolate and produce culture of microorganisms, study their characteristics and observe their reactions to stimuli. They also study about its reproduction, distribution and identify disease causing organisms, it also deals with the interaction of micro-organisms with people and their effects and its causes.
Job Prospects for Microbiologists
Microbiologist's find diverse range of employment in different sectors. The qualified candidates find jobs in hospitals, universities, medical colleges, healthcare sectors, environmental organization, government laboratories, biotechnology companies, agriculture, space industry, forensic science laboratories and food and drink factories. The candidates can also write science writings for public, medical journals and science books. A degree in masters would find employment in research field and in R &D sectors. They can also work as clinical technologists, in clinics/veterinary hospitals
