Of all professions, perhaps medical profession is the toughest to get into. It's all because of the heavy demand to get into a MBBS course. Because of limited seats only the brightest are able to manage to get into one of these courses. Getting into MBBS requires intense preparation on the part of the candidate. The course can be undergone at any of the medical colleges in the country. Because of educational subsidy and extensive scope for hands on experience, government medical colleges are preferred by the students. A 12 month long internship at the end of the course is compulsory for successful completion.
Pass in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks. The candidates have to clear the entrance exams conducted by various agencies. Some of the top agencies/institutions conducting entrance exams are AIIMS, AIPMT and AFMC.
The duration of the course is 4.5 years plus 12 months internship.
