General Overview of the course

This course is of 3 years and includes mainly the surgical procedures of abdominal organs. Students of medical science who have the aspiration to become surgeons in future should attempt this course. They have to either sit for M.S. entrance examinations to be able to study this course.

Eligibility Criteria

1. This course is only open to candidates who are you a registered doctor under the medical council of India.


2. The candidate opting for this course must have an MBBS degree from an approved medical college in India


3. Even though a candidate satisfying the above two criteria, may not get a chance to study M.S. in surgery. This is because the admissions are done on merit basis. Only the top scores of a combination of their MBBS course and the subsequent entrance examination conducted by the university providing this M.S. course will get a chance for M.S. in surgery.

Details of the M.S. course

Candidates who wish to enlist in this course should have thorough knowledge of human anatomy and human organs. Mostly they would have to perform surgeries of stomach, intestines and liver in this course. Surgeries could be related to any abnormalities, tumor, or infections in the human organs.
Candidates appearing for M.S. in Surgery course must already have MBBS degree and that too with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate. They also need to pass any of the following entrance examinations:

1. UP PGMEE


2. AI PGMEE


3. Or, any other entrance examination held individually by the M.S. university itself.

After you pass out this course you can join as a surgeon in the same hospital from where you passed. But this depends on whether or not there is a vacancy. You can also try for other private hospitals. But this course will not offer you a wide genre of jobs. You can be a surgeon after this course.
