Course introduction
It is a course which prepares man power to work in an operation theater with excellent technical knowledge. The course makes them able to work with health care teams in hospitals, to assist senior doctors and even surgeons in operation theaters. Candidates learn about every minute details of patient care. The details about medical instruments like Ventilators, Monitors, Defibrillators, etc are given in this course. The practical part gives them an opportunity to handle the instruments practically.
Eligibility
This Diploma can be done after completion of 12th examination. Candidate must have studies Physics, chemistry and Biology during his/her 12th standard education.
Admission Procedure
Admission procedure includes DET (Diploma Entrance Test) for most of the reputed institutes. The final selection of candidates is done on the basis of their performance in DET. Candidates needs to submit application on time.
Duration
The duration of course is varied from 1 year for some institutes to 2 years for some other institutes. The syllabus may slightly vary in both the cases.
Further study options
After completion of this course, interested candidates can pursue other instrumentation course for further specialization like for X-Ray machine, ECG machine, etc. Other courses can be done related to management which may help them in future. Regular graduation and post graduation/ Post graduate Diploma course in the related field can also be pursued to have better job aspects.
B.Ed is an option for those who want to pursue career in teaching line.
Course highlights
Candidates learn about Operating rooms/ theaters, various related techniques including their practical handling. The theoretical portion includes history of Anaesthesia Boyles Apparatus Gas, Anaesthesia drugs and their types. Candidates also learn about Mechanics of Incubation Ventilator.
Safety measures on Operation Theater and Blood- Fluid administration safety measures. The course also includes some part of inventory management and DDA procedures.
Part of Physiology & Anatomy, General surgical principles, Sterilization & disinfection and O.T. Ethics and discipline are also taught in this course.
