Over view of the course
The course is designed for improving the standards of public health. The program includes areas of public speaking, community. environmental health, life style, wellness, communication etc. The curriculum is designed to get a perspective view of global health. Specialisation areas may be in fields of nutrition, bio-statistics, environmental science, mother and child health. The diploma focuses on health issues of the public and the preventive measures to be addressed. The students would be trained to execute and monitor the health policies/ programs and would be exposed to areas of public health, plan strategic measures to face the emerging challenges. The course comprises classroom learning and project work, students need to present dissertation. The curriculum includes bio statistics, demography, epidemiology, management of public health, health promotion, health education, resources and finance management, the topics also covers areas of health legislation, equity and social science health policy.

The study imparts required skills to tackle the problems of health prevalent in the community. The main objective of the course is to enhance public health managerial work force in the country .The curriculum includes bio-statistics, demography, epidemiology, management of public health, promotion, health education, resources and finance management, health legislation, equity, health policy and management. Candidates must participate in seminars, journal clubs, group discussions, case studies etc. Varied learning techniques would be taught to students. The program is devised to enable candidates participate actively in seminars, journal clubs, group discussions, case studies, etc. they need to take part in field trips and projects, practical's, and visit to public health interests. Adequate hands on experience would be given in handling the computers. Training would be given to students to prepare, supervise and execute health programs, implement laws and prepare for disasters. They learn to identify environmental threats, measures to tackle them and improve the health condition with preventive strategies for diseases. The program trains them to analyse, evaluate the care practices and control environmental threats to human health.
Eligibility criteria: The candidate must be graduate in medicine, dental, nursing, health sciences, occupational/physiotherapy, natural/life /social sciences.
