Overview of Clinical Research

Any research that has an impact on the well-being and care of patients as well as future patients fall under clinical research. The research in a broader sense is a science of doing clinical trials, epidemiologic studies, patient-oriented research, translational research, health service research and behavioural science. A systematic approach is required to produce quality data and reliable results that can have an impact on decision-making techniques and improving methods of patient care.

The curriculum focuses on providing basic and practical knowledge of clinical research and the regulations governing it. They also get an exposure to case studies coupled with good communication and organizational skills that are required to conduct clinical research in India.

Course Structure and Evaluation

This course utilizes various teaching methodologies that include discussions, lectures, case studies, basic science labs, student presentations, workshops, group assignments and field visits conducted by eminent industry professionals. The faculty comprises of national and international levels that have 5-10 years of rigorous clinical research industry experience. The faculties mainly work in senior positions in multinational pharma or in research organizations.
For a period of 4 months, internship positions in the clinical research industry will be provided to all students from each batch. At the end of each module, evaluation and grading will be made based on written tests and the final presentation made by each student. During the internship and project work, all students will get an opportunity to engage in research related activities that could be based in a laboratory or a community hospital.
