Overview

Eligibility

For admission in the entry level courses, a student must have passed class 12th in Science stream with Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Admission in most medical schools is through entrance exams like those conducted by CBSE. For clearing the entrance exams one needs to be very well versed in the Science subjects. Some state universities and institutes conduct their own entrance exams.

Course duration

Duration depends upon the course. The undergraduate courses for obtaining a MBBS degree lasts five years, followed by a period of compulsory internship in hospitals for one year. Postgraduate degree courses are of three years, whereas the postgraduate diplomas of two years. Further super specialization can only be done after gaining the postgraduate degree or diploma.
