Everyone knows English language today except the few ones who are not literate and thus do not know any other language except their mother tongue. But for the professionals who know English there are only a few of them who knows the History of this language.

I hereby provide some facts about the English language which must be known to every person who learns and speaks English.

Long time ago in 5 Century AD, there were some German tribes which used to speak in their own language known as Celtic Language. Celtic speakers then turned to England and made some changes to their language and started a new language as they became the native of England and named it as Englisc Language. From Englisc word in the modern language the word English came into existence.

The German tribes built the English town which is now famous in the name of Old England. Till the date 1100 AD old English was in great use and everyone used it to speak and it was somewhat sophisticated and hard to learn. While the time passed, the French came to England and used their words dominating over the old English. But during the 14 century England came over again and the language with the effect of French words is now called Middle English due to French impact. There was a poet named Chaucer who made Middle English famous at that time.

With the beginning of the 15 century a drastic change came to English language which was named as early modern English and introduced new words in the English dictionary which had pronunciation effect and with this the vowels came into existence. In 1604 AD, the first English dictionary came into existence with the fixes in the grammar and spellings with the invention of printing.
As the time passed, new vocabulary were introduced and new words captured from all over the world and gave birth to new Modern English which is now commonly used with its grammatical correctness.

Today, American and British English are more influential and play a very vital role while developing English vocabulary. There are various forms of English language in every part of world. As the British rule expanded over the world, English emerged as a world local language.
