To wine and dine does not mean to simply eat but to specifically have (or be treated to) a very expensive meal.

Sample Usage

1. Despite not having a large income, the Nandan couple wined and dined at least thrice a week.

2. In light of the recent bomb blast, it was not right to wine and dine so the dinner party at the hotel was cancelled.

3. All the ISC members who had achieved Platinum status decided to have a get-together to wine and dine in Delhi.
