Devil's Advocate

Someone who takes a position for the sake of argument without believing in that particular side of the argument. It can also mean one who presents a counter argument for a position they do believe in, to another debater.


Sample Usage

1)Ashok Thapar is a Devil's Advocate for the Times of India news channel.

2)I do not prefer to argue with him as he is a devil's advocate.

3)A public prosecutor should be like a devil's advocate during the argument period.
