Difference between Grisly and Grizzly

Grisly is an adjective.
Meanings: ghastly; gruesome; horrible; shocking; macabre; hideous
- Antonym is pleasant.

Grizzly as a noun refers to a large North American bear. Although it is two words – grizzly bear, it is generally used as one word 'grizzly'. As an adjective grizzly refers to a person or object that is streaked or sprinkled with gray.


Sample Usage

Examples of Grisly:
1. The scene of the train accident was a grisly sight, with blood-soaked bodies strewn all over.
2. The movie on vampires was quite grisly and not appropriate watching for kids.

Examples of Grizzly:
1. The trekkers were rooted to the spot on seeing the Grizzly approaching the group.
2. Even though Rodney was young in age, he already had grizzly hair.
