Down to earth is a commonly used expression used to describe a person who is practical and sensible without any pretenses or false airs and someone who is rooted to reality.

It also conveys honesty and sincerity of character. It is also used to portray simplicity and straightforwardness.

The phrase is used as an Adjective to describe persons, ideas or thoughts.
