Rob or Steal ?

Rob and Steal are two commonly confused words. Rob means forcefully taking away something from someone, and the owner knows all about it but remains helpless. On the other hand, steal means taking something by theft, and without the knowledge of the owner.

Sample Usage

Rob

1. A traveller was robbed on the road by hooligans.
2. A gang of robbers were caught last night from the jungle adjacent to the city.

Steak

1. It is a pity that thieves were able to steal Tagore's Nobel Prize.
2. This man tried to steal my books from my house.
