Sample Usage
Incorrect: Fat man will realise how much difficult high climbing will be.
Correct: The fat man will realise how difficult climbing is.
Reason:
1) much denotes quantity
2) climbing conveys the sense of going higher up.
Incorrect: Your father nor you can take delight in the present situation.
Correct: Neither your father nor can you take delight in the present situation.
Reason:
1) Neither and nor go together.
2) In case of 'nor', verb precedes the subject.
Incorrect: I shall certainly write to you, when I shall reach at Delhi.
Correct: I shall certainly write to you, when I reach Delhi.
Reason:
1) In case of a conditional sentence in Future form, the conditional clause is always in the Present Tense.
2) 'Reach' is not followed by any preposition.
Incorrect: He went off and left me at the lurch.
Correct: He went off and left me in the lurch.
Reason: The idiom is 'to leave in the lurch'.
Incorrect: Her face is more beautiful than her mother.
Correct: Her face is more beautiful than that of her mother (or than her mother's).
Reason: The comparison is between her face and the face of her mother.
